Solo Wander at Walden
A Guide Gathering on the shores of Walden Pond
Sunday, October 6th 9am - 3pm
What to Expect
We will gather near the Thoreau Cabin site for a community circle of introductions and orienting to place and the land. From there, we will each go out on our solo wanders for 2-3 hours. We will come back together for an afternoon story circle, wrapping up the day by 3pm at the latest although folks can feel free to linger as long as you would like.
- 9:00-9:30am Arriving
- 9:30am Introductions and Orientation to the Day
- 10:00am Depart for Solo Wanders & creating or marking our own personal thresholds (Tam & Nadine participating as well)
- 12:00-1:00pm Return from Solo Wanders (exact timing will be determined before we depart that day)
- 1:00-2:00pm Story Circle (facilitated by Tam & Nadine)
- 2:00-3:00pm Social Time with anyone who wants to linger
What to Bring
- Lunch, Snacks, Water (there is a gift shop but no snack bar or cafe)
- Layers (be prepared for a day outside with whatever you need to be comfortable)
- Time piece (watch)
- Whistle
- Blanket
- Chair
- Rain Gear
- Swimwear & towel (for a personal cold plunge if you desire)?
- Journal and pen?
- Note: There is no WiFi in this area and service is very spotty.

Meet Up Location - NEAR The Thoreau Cabin Site - Walking From Parking Options
Parking
There are two options for parking and both options require a 15-25 minute walk to our meet-up spot
- Visitor Center (.7 mi walk to Thoreau Cabin Site)
This option has a fee but is close to where the only bathrooms are located along with the visitor center and gift shop. MA resident $8 Non-MA resident $30

This is free street parking in a quiet neighborhood behind Walden Pond. There are no facilities and the walk to the meet up spot is about 1 mile through the woods.
